On Wednesday, June 27, 2007, EcoMedia Direct launched a Street Art Program to communicate the importance of ART and RECYCLING in Public Spaces. We believe this is one of the cornerstones of civic responsibility. From this point on, until the end of 2009, we will work with our sponsors to showcase a wide variety of Art, our talented Toronto and GTA-based artists, and beautify our urban landscape. As a result, Toronto will be a cleaner and more beautiful city.

Can this urban dream become a reality?

Just ask our CEO, Erich Genseberger. He came to Canada as a young tradesman and ended up in charge of a billion dollar plus corporate unit at one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers.

Erich says, “If you’re determined enough, you can accomplish anything. There are no boundaries.”

  • Continue to increase the diversion of solid waste materials from landfill
  • 70% of the materials deposited in the SilverBox® program can be reclaimed
Revitalize our Public Space Recycling programs
  • The Toronto Public Space Recycling™ SilverBox® inventory maintenance is funded solely by EcoMedia
  • EcoMedia receives no government subsidies
  • The SilverBox® program is a capital intensive business which requires constant replacement, maintenance and cleaning

About the Artist


David is an honours graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and of Humber College.

He is an established, Toronto based artist who has been living and working in the city for over 25 years. He exhibits his work frequently both locally and abroad.

David has played an instrumental role in a number of major fundraising projects and has helped to raise over $1 million for various charitable and non-profit organizations. David has donated his work so that it can be reproduced in lithographical prints which have been sold to raise funds and awareness. Some of these organizations include: the Metro Toronto Y.M.C.A., the National Ballet of Canada, Casey House, the Junior League and Trinity Home Hospice.

David believes that we can all make a difference in preserving our environment and in beautifying Toronto and has loaned his original images and artistic expertise to EcoMedia Direct in order to create a unique combination of public space recycling and street level art.

Win a piece of Street Art History!

EcoMedia Direct has launched a month-long online campaign to raise awareness among Torontonians and visitors to our city about our Street Art Sponsorship Program.

Visitors to our site - www.eco-media.ca/cityart - will be able to learn about our local artists, view art samples, find locations where the Street Art SilverBox® Recycle Bins are featured, and enter to win an original piece of framed art by Toronto based, Canadian Artist David Arathoon (our first featured Artist).

The winner will be randomly selected on Toronto's Civic Holiday, August 6, 2007, and the winning name will be posted on the eco-media.ca site.
